EvoFit – Mind – Body – Life
The Story of EvoFit:
I think it’s safe to say that the development of EvoFit has been more coincidental rather than structured and planned out. The idea of EvotFit has ultimately been developing my entire life. Through different life experiences and discovered passions along the way, the idea EvoFit has become an opportunity to help others achieve balance in their minds, bodies, and life.
If we were having a conversation today you might not notice that I pay close attention to the movement of your mouth and your body language as you speak. That’s because I was born with nerve damage that caused significant hearing loss, allowing for only 60% hearing in my right ear and 40% in my left. As an adult I am able to adjust to and handle my disability with little to no effect on my day to day life. However, as a child I struggled to adapt to my disability.
The inability to communicate well with others caused many unhealthy emotions in my life. I was frustrated and often felt alone because of my disability. I felt that I lived in a world of silence, developed low self esteem and found myself with very few friends.
Although I felt alone in my struggle, I now understand that it’s not uncommon for people to feel this way. It happens to many of us and many of you can probably relate to my experience in one way or another. It’s not a great feeling, and it’s not how I wanted to live my life.
My mother always told me life was about JAMODI; it was “Just a Matter of Doing It”. I can still remember the day that I had that moment of realizing she was right. That I had to shift my way of thinking, to get my mind in the right place. I told myself that it didn’t matter that I had a disability, that it couldn’t and wouldn’t hold me back. I learned to rely on my other senses, becoming more aware of my surroundings and aware of what I was capable of, not what I wasn’t.
At the age of eight I became involved in the sport of Motocross, and I loved it! Although it is considered one of the most physically and mentally challenging sports, I thrived at pushing myself to do more than I thought I could. I wasn’t disappointed by the difficulties along the way, but used the opportunities to learn and become better. I took my skills in Motocross to a professional level, learning the sport from every angle. Along the way I found self confidence in myself and discovered a passion for wanting to help others to do the same.
We all have goals in our life that we want to achieve; and in achieving those goals we will face difficulties. Finding a balance between our mind, our bodies and our life is the key to moving forward and overcoming those obstacles.
It is my passion in life to help others find that positive mindset that will strengthen the body to live an amazing life; not only achieving goals but conquering them!
